With the stresses and strains on us today, it is not surprising that more couples are finding that their relationship is under pressure.
This may be because of work pressures, one partner spending a lot of time at work and then when coming home withdrawing or not being supportive.
Children can put a lot of strain on a relationship, and different ages bring different problems.
Financial, with the recent recession any surplus funds would have been absorbed by increasing bills. Overtime may have been reduced or stopped putting a relationship on further stresses and strains.
Each of us deals with pressure and stress in different ways. Often, lack of communication in a relationship leads to assumptions creating its own problems.
Talking it through with family or friends isn't always a positive experience because they know either or both of you and therefore cannot be neutral.
Working things through together with a Counsellor can help. The Counsellor is there to help open up communications again and help understand each others problems and work through them in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
